Originally from China and now also cultivated in Piedmont, in the provinces of Novara and Vercelli, Venere rice belongs to the Japonica subspecies. It is an aromatic wholegrain rice with a distinctive fragrance reminiscent of freshly baked bread and sandalwood. Rich in fiber, phosphorus, iron, zinc, and selenium, it is especially valued for its high content of anthocyanins, powerful natural antioxidants that give it its characteristic deep black color. Perfect for risottos, rice salads, and as a side dish for fish and delicate meats, it also captivates with its scenic appearance, thanks to the contrast between the dark pericarp and the white core of the grain.
